Finding Your Library Joy at Geek Out Napa Valley 2026

Our fourth annual Comic-Con, Geek Out Napa Valley, is in the books, and it certainly lived up to its promise of being a celebration of creativity and fandom! What started as a passion project for me and a few other creative members of our staff has grown into a community fixture that has a little of something for everyone.

Throughout the day, our library hosted activities including:

  • An animation panel
  • Crafts
  • Dungeons & Dragons sessions
  • A video game tournament
  • Cosplay
  • Costume contests
  • Signings with authors
  • Live music
  • Delicious food options

And, last but definitely not least, we had a special storytime with the current host of Reading Rainbow: the world-famous librarian Mychal Threets! He shared stories of his work with libraries, his collection of library cards, and his admiration of the great Lavar Burton. He also read from his newly published book I’m So Happy You’re Here: A Celebration of Library Joy(It's also available in Spanish!)

It was truly a day to celebrate library joy, and Mychal was the perfect guest to help us celebrate!

We started Geek Out as a way to bring the community together right here at the Napa Library, and it has become something the people of Napa County look forward to every year. A lot of work goes into this event with staff members, volunteers, vendors, and artists all working hard to make the Comic-Con a success. It truly is a giant team effort which I like to think of as The Avengers for libraries!

A big thank-you to everyone that made this day possible, and especially you, our loyal library users. See you all next year at Geek Out Napa Valley 2027!
