On April 14, 2026, the Napa County Board of Supervisors proclaimed April 19–25, 2026 as National Library Week in Napa County. This special week celebrates libraries for enriching the community, fostering lifelong learning, and providing inclusive spaces. It also reaffirms support for these essential resources and encouraging residents to participate by visiting local Napa County Library locations.
Library Director Anthony Halstead says, "Celebrating National Library Week is an opportunity to recognize the role public libraries play in our lives as individuals, families, and a community. Serving people of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, and interests, public libraries promote lifelong learning, nurture a love of reading, and support personal growth. They also provide spaces that broaden our perspectives, deepen empathy, and encourage meaningful civic dialogue."
Stop by your local Napa County Library location in American Canyon, Calistoga, Napa, or Yountville during National Library Week, browse the shelves, attend a program, and say hello to staff.
Other ways to celebrate:
- All our holds will also have a cool, National Library Week bookmark (while supplies last).
- Starting Saturday, April 18, each Napa County Library location will have a fun, mini library take-home craft kit (also while supplies last).
- Stop by the Napa Library children's room to see the Library Joy Hearts Display.
The American Library Association National Library Week Honorary Chair, Mychal Threets, says, "I love libraries enthusiastically every week! To serve as Honorary Chair for National Library Week takes that enthusiasm to a whole new level. Celebrating libraries, thanking library workers, visiting libraries is how I find my joy. There are so many library kids and library grown-ups who have yet to fully embrace their library joy, and I am so excited for them! When they enter the world of libraries and stories, I am confident they will find not only their library joy but their courage to believe in their own story and maybe even share it with others."
Thank you for loving your library!
